Armen Hakobjanyan

Armenian

Armen Hakobjanyan is a contemporary Armenian artist and architect, born in 1989 in Sisian, Syunik region. He studied at the Sisian Art School named after Zakar Khachatryan under artist Ashot Avagyan, and later received a degree in architecture in Yerevan. His artistic practice focuses on painting, with a strong emphasis on materiality. In his works, canvas and oil paint are not just mediums but active elements of the composition. In series such as 0-Panorama, he engages with landscape—particularly mountainous forms—while shifting attention toward texture, surface, and the physical behavior of paint. His work explores the boundaries between image, material, and perception.
