Christos Kyriakides

Cypriot

Christos Kyriakides is a visual artist and poet based in Cyprus. Holding a BA in Millinery and a diploma in Journalism, his interdisciplinary practice is rooted in poetic inquiry and an ongoing exploration of materiality, language, and their capacity to construct meaning. These foundations were further developed during his time at the studio of Michael Anastassiades in London, where his engagement with materials became a defining aspect of his practice. Kyriakides has exhibited across galleries, art fairs, and cultural institutions in Cyprus and internationally. His work is held in public and private collections, including the State Gallery of Contemporary Cypriot Art, and his practice has been featured in Wallpaper magazine. In 2026, he was commissioned to design the official sculpture for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Alongside his studio practice, Kyriakides maintains an active curatorial practice.

His curatorial project with activist Paola Revenioti generated significant public and international discussion around artistic freedom and freedom of expression in Cyprus, ultimately resulting in a formal apology from the Cypriot government. He has also been recognised by the President of the Republic of Cyprus for his charitable work with the Sophia Foundation. Expanding his practice beyond the visual arts, Kyriakides frequently works as an art director with conceptual choreographers, translating his material and poetic language into performative and movement-based contexts. Recent selected presentations and institutional collaborations include VIMA Art Fair, Limassol; Fragment Gallery, New York; MISC, Athens; and the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre (NiMAC).
